~ North Jersey Lions District Charitable Foundation ~

Multiple District 16 is New Jersey, in the world of Lions Clubs International.  New Jersey is divided into three districts, N, J & L. District 16N is comprised of all the clubs and its members in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex, Morris, Warren & Sussex Counties.  (All Lions in 16N are members of the Charitable Foundation)

“Since our founding in 1971 we have given out over $1 million dollars in grants.  Grant requests are accepted from all State Sight, Non-Sight and Club sponsored Projects for tangible items that can benefit many people.  We do not provide grants to individuals, for salaries, operating expense or intangible items”.

With the needs of organizations and State Sponsored Lion projects ever increasing, so are the grant requests that are presented annually to the Charitable Foundation for consideration. It is a rare occasion that a properly requested grant is turned down.  The full amount requested may not be granted, but in most cases a substantial donation is awarded.

The goal of the Foundation is to continue to provide help wherever and whenever we are asked for support.

Trustees are elected each year for four-year terms.  Appointments are also made by the Governor.  All officers and trustees serve on a volunteer, unpaid basis.

The Foundation annually sponsors several fund-raising activities.  The Annual Grand Charity Ball is held in the Spring, along with it is the 50/50 Raffle and an Ad Journal.  These and funds from the “Dump a Wreck” project (donated used vehicles).  In addition, bequests have been received from estates.   Donations are made by clubs and individuals from within and without the Lions Clubs.

A partial list of recipients of our grant money includes equipment for:
